2010 Acura ALMS Shows Its New Race Engine

The new 2010 Acura Alms (American Le Mans) will show its latest racing engine this season, which is completely designed and produced by the HPD (Honda Performance Development) team, based in California..

The Acura will participate in the ALMS series, whereas the Honda is expected to take part in the Indy racing league, powered with new V-8 engine. As Acura is returning back in to the American Le Mans series, there are more hopes and expectations on the new Acura models and it may lead to world-class performance company.

The HPD, where the Acura engines are manufactured was established in 1993 as a subsidiary of Honda Motor Co. The company served as a center for technical operations, for IndyCar engine program.

Previously, Acura had participated in the Motor Sports Association during 1990s, providing additional support and sponsorship for the Comptech racing team. Though there was no complete effort from the company, the lead driver parker Johnstone won three titles during 1991-93. Apart from this, Acura had also supported Peter Cunningham and real time racing in SCCA World Challenge competition. Technical and other details about the new model have not known yet.

According to the sources from Acura, it is expected that the 2010 Acura ALMS is quitting from the American Le Mans racing this year. Acura participated in the 2007 American Le Mans competition, competing in the LMP2 class. This was the first motorsports program in the history of the Acura in its 20 years career. It also competed with the top companies like Mazda, Porsche, and Audi.
